Rate plans and rate configuration

Do you need to configure multiple rates for your rooms or apartments? 🏡

In this article we see together everything you need to know about configuring your tariffs and your rate plans.

Each type of room/apartment  must be associated with one rate plan at least. You can configure them all in Octorate and also make them visible on your direct site.

Example 1:

In your property you want to sell your rooms with a standard rate and a non-refundable rate. Both rates have also been created on the various OTAs and you want to map them with Octorate.

First you need to create the derived rates, this way you can connect them with the portals in the mapping section.
Then you will have to associate a rate plan with your rates.

From Rooms/Apartment, click on Rate plans

Click on [Add +] and create your new rate plan.

Choose a name and define the treatment (Room only, breakfast included...)

On the right side of the page select the rooms you want to associate with this rate plan.

🔺 ATTENTION!
If you have configured your derived rooms as described in the example, the price difference will need to be set in your derived rate scheme.

We therefore advise you not to fill in the price correction field also in the Rate plan section:

it is possible to connect payment rules and cancellation policies to a rate plan, these will be shown in your booking engine as you see in the image below 👇

🔺 ATTENTION!

The cancellation policies configured in Octorate will only be valid for your direct bookings, you will still have to configure them in the various OTAs in order to also have them active for bookings coming from the portals.

Collection policies will allow you to charge your guests' credit cards automatically if you have a payment gateway.

The display of rate plans in the booking engine can be further customized in the Texts section.
You will find the Label, Title and Description entries, the ones that the customer will view on the Booking Engine during the booking phase.

Example 2:

You want to have different rate plans in Octorate but you are not interested in having them also active on the portals.

In this case it will not be necessary to create derived rates.
In your list of rooms you just need to have a single typology in which a base price will be loaded (e.g. double bedroom)

It will be possible to associate multiple rate plans on this same room type. Therefore, if you want to have a standard rate and a non-refundable rate, you will have to configure them like this:

Standard rate:

Not refundable rate:

it will be associated with the same room but in this case you will also have to enter the price correction you wish to apply

For both examples described, it will be possible for you to connect extra services to your tariff plans by creating packages.
