Manage your locks with Salto!

Preliminary Requirements

To connect Salto to Octorate, you need to:

  • Contact Salto and inform them that you want to connect their system with your channel manager.

  • Activate the PMS and WEB CONCIERGE packages in Octorate.

  • Create the real rooms of your property in Octorate (if you haven’t already).

Salto Account Configuration

In your Salto account, you’ll need to configure access groups, creating one for each real room in your property.

Important tip: Use the same names for your access groups as the real rooms created in Octorate to simplify the mapping process.

Within each access group, link the corresponding lock.

Note: If the same room code needs to open multiple doors (for example, a gate or a main entrance before the room), you can connect multiple locks within the same access group.

Connection in Octorate

After setting up your Salto account, follow these steps in Octorate:

  1. Go to Channel Manager > Connect a new site

  2. Select Salto

  3. Enter your Salto login credentials:

    • Username

    • Password

    • API Key (Site ID) provided by Salto

  4. Import the rooms and complete the mapping with the real rooms configured in Octorate.
     

Once mapping is complete, write to [email protected] to request activation of the portal.

After activation, go to Marketing > Web Concierge and enable the option “Enable code generation.”


 

How the Reservation Flow Works with Salto?

  • Access Code Generation

Two days before check-in, the system will generate an access code, which you’ll find in the booking details.


It may take up to one hour after the booking is created for the code to appear.

Salto will send an email to the guest inviting them to download the app.

 

  • Access Management
    Until the guest arrives, in Salto you’ll see them in the “People” section with access blocked (1).
    After check-in, the access will appear as active (2). 

     
    At check-out, access will automatically be blocked again.

Check-in and Check-out

  • Manual: You can manually register a guest’s check-in or check-out by clicking the respective buttons in the booking details.

  • Automatic: You can automate this by enabling “Automatic check-in/check-out management” under Marketing > Web Concierge.

     

In this case, check-ins/check-outs will be managed according to the times set in Booking Engine Evo > General Settings.

 

  • Assigning a TAG (Magnetic Key)
    After registering the check-in, you can assign a TAG (magnetic key) to the guest.


    Once saved, the tag will also appear in Salto with the associated code.

  • The system will automatically generate an email template to send guests their door code. The code will only be shown after check-in has been registered.

  • Guest Access Options


    The guest can access their room in three ways:

  1. Entering the door code received by email from Octorate.

  2. Using the TAG you provided.

  3. Downloading the Salto App and holding their smartphone near the lock.

  • User Deletion
    Three days after check-out, the user created for the guest in Salto will be deleted.
